Senior QA Engineer with Database & Backend Testing

**About the role** As a **Senior QA Engineer with Database & Backend Testing** , you will make an impact by ensuring robust and efficient testing of backend systems and databases for critical applications. You will be a valued member of our Quality Engineering team and collaborate closely with offshore teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. **In this role, you will:** + Participate in daily stand-up calls and provide status updates. + Manage and mentor offshore testing teams to ensure timely delivery. + Update and maintain automation frameworks for backend and database testing. + Develop functional test cases and automation scripts for backend validation. + Perform functional and automated regression testing to ensure system stability. **Work model:** We strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations. **What you need to have to be considered** + 5+ years of experience in database and backend testing. + Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and stored procedure testing. + Proficiency in mocking techniques for database interactions using Mockito, JMock, WireMock, or similar frameworks. + Hands-on experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, NUnit, or TestNG. + Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers for test validation. + Experience in CI/CD automation with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. + Familiarity with API testing and backend validation using Postman, Rest Assured, or SoapUI. **This will help you stand out** + Experience with performance testing tools and strategies. + Exposure to cloud-based testing environments. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication abilities. + Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship _*Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future*_ We're excited to meet people who share our mission and can make an impact in a variety of ways. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
