Specification Writer - Architectural Firm - Base Salary to 80k/year - Montgomery, AL

• Our client is a full-service design firm based in Hoover, Alabama offering a comprehensive range of services for over 30 years. Their goal is to answer each client’s needs and desires by developing architectural solutions that successfully blend classic concepts with modern aesthetics, practical functionality, and environmental sensitivity.
  
• The Specification Writer supports the preparation and coordination of technical specifications and project manuals across a variety of building types and project phases. This role ensures that project specifications are accurate, comprehensive and aligned with architectural drawings and client requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare architectural specifications for construction projects in coordination with project teams.
  
• Develop and manage project manuals and specifications using software tools.
  
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and project managers to ensure consistency between drawings and specifications.
  
• Research products, materials and systems for appropriate use in specifications.
  
• Monitor and integrate updates in codes, regulations and industry standards.
  
• Maintain specification templates and contribute to the development of firm-wide standards.
  
• Review submittals and assist with construction administration as it relates to technical compliance.
  
• Participate in QA/QC reviews for completeness, accuracy and constructability.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  
• 3+ years of experience writing architectural specifications or working in a technical architecture role.
  
• Strong knowledge of CSI MasterFormat, building materials, construction techniques and codes.
  
• Proficiency in specification software.
