As a Plasma Table Operator at MYER, you'll be the master of precision cutting technology! You'll operate state-of-the-art plasma cutting systems, transforming raw steel into perfectly crafted components. What You'll Do Daily
- Command cutting-edge plasma table systems - You'll be the operator behind precision cuts that meet exacting standards
- Master heavy machinery - Operate cranes to load, unload, and position materials with skill and safety
- Ensure perfection - Dimensionally verify materials and maintain detailed records
- Monitor and optimize - Control cutting operations and adjust parameters for optimal results
- Match expertise to materials - Select the right consumables for different material grades and thicknesses
- Maintain excellence - Perform daily maintenance to keep equipment running at peak performance
- Finish with precision - Hand grind materials when needed to meet specifications
- Own quality - Continuously inspect your work to exceed quality standards
- Champion safety - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Show up ready - Consistent attendance and reliability are key to our team success
What We're Looking For
Education & Training
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Vocational training or previous employer training in cutting applications preferred
- We'll train you! Complete our comprehensive training program after joining the team
Experience That Counts
- Minimum 1 year in steel processing (we value hands-on experience!)
Skills That Set You Apart
- Cutting expertise - Experience with heating and cutting, especially OFC (oxy-fuel)
- Precision measurement - Skilled with tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other dimensional tools
- Multi-tasking master - Ability to handle multiple processing operations
- Independent worker - Self-motivated and reliable
- Blueprint reader - Can interpret drawings and specifications
- Math skills - Basic mathematical knowledge for calculations
- Physically capable - Comfortable in demanding work environments
- Safety-focused - Knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to safe practices
Physical Requirements (We've Got Your Back!)
This role requires physical capability and we ensure you have the right safety equipment and training:
- Vision & Hearing - Clear sight for reading materials and measurements, good hearing for safety alerts
- Equipment Operation - Operate plasma tables, cranes, welding equipment, grinders, and precision tools
- Physical Demands - Lift/carry up to 50lbs, work at heights up to 15 feet, stand for extended periods
- Mobility - Walk through production areas, work in confined spaces when needed
