Survey Party Chief – Tuscaloosa, AL

TTL is seeking a Survey Party Chief to support a variety of civil, industrial, environmental and transportation-based projects throughout Alabama. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of a survey crew. This person must have a good safety record and be able to communicate effectively with other team members and clients. The ideal candidate has experience with operating various types of survey equipment and performing construction staking, boundary survey, ALTA survey and topographic surveys.

What You'll Do

• Completes field assignments accurately while ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment.
• Performs the following surveys: boundary, control, topographic, construction layout and staking, environmental mapping, GPS/GIS surveys, and land surveying.
• Completes the field work by performing the administrative functions to include all computations, reduction of field notes, maintaining records, contacting clients, etc.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as Survey Crew Chief or Degree in Mapping, Surveying, GIS or a Geospatial Field.
• Proficient in the use of GPS, Robotic Total Station and data collectors.
• H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Must be able to work in all types of weather and field conditions
• Must be able to work outside typical daily 8 am to 5 pm hours
• Must be able to travel with occasional overnight stays
• Must have basic computer skills for time, expense and field data entry
• Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing, read and interpret survey maps and construction plans
