Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Step-Down Unit
Location: Birmingham, Alabama, 35205
Shift Schedule: 12-Hour Day Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required
Duration: 13 Weeks (Possible extension depending on business needs)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Pay Range: $38/hr - $46 per hour on a W2

Responsibilities:
Deliver skilled, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a high-acuity Step-Down Unit.
Monitor and care for patients transitioning from critical care, requiring frequent assessment and moderate interventions.
Administer and manage complex medications, cardiac drips, and oxygen support, and respond rapidly to patient changes.
Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate patient care.
Maintain detailed and accurate documentation using Cerner EMR.
Float as needed to similar Step-Down or Progressive Care Units within the hospital.

Skills/Experience Needed:
Minimum 2 years of recent Step-Down or PCU experience — Required
Prior travel nursing experience — Required
Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with telemetry, drips, and step-down protocols
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

Education:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing program — Required

Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) — Required
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) — Required
Active RN License (Alabama or Compact State) — Required
