Lead Farm & Hatchery Technician
Automation Personnel Services is seeking a dependable and skilled Lead Farm & Hatchery Technician to oversee daily operations at our poultry farm in Clanton, AL and the partner hatchery in Ashland, AL. This leadership role is hands‑on and requires mechanical aptitude, prior farm experience, and strong construction and electrical skills. The Lead Technician will work closely with eggs, chicks, and live poultry, while also maintaining housing facilities and equipment in compliance with strict biosecurity standards.

Pay Rate
$19.00 -$21.00 hour Depending on experience

Schedule and Hours
Monday – Friday; occasional weekends as needed

Travel Required: Yes (between the farm and hatchery locations)

Lead Farm & Hatchery Technician - Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as the on‑site lead for daily farm and hatchery operations
• Work directly with eggs, chicks, and chickens to support animal health and production standards
• Oversee and assist with poultry housing, egg handling, and hatchery processes
• Perform equipment maintenance and repairs, including mechanical, electrical, and structural tasks
• Support construction, facility upgrades, and preventive maintenance projects
• Ensure proper operation of farm and hatchery equipment
• Enforce and comply with all biosecurity, safety, and animal welfare protocols
• Travel regularly between Clanton farm and Ashland hatchery locations
• Assist with troubleshooting, and problem‑solving as a Lead team member
• Provide support during occasional weekend operations as required

Lead Farm & Hatchery Technician - Requirements and Qualifications

• Previous farm or agricultural experience (poultry experience preferred)
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands‑on maintenance experience
• Construction and electrical skills
• Ability to work in environments with live poultry, eggs, and hatchery operations
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Willingness and ability to travel between job sites
• Physically capable of performing manual labor and working around farm equipment

Biosecurity Requirement

Due to strict biosecurity regulations:

• Candidates must not own birds or be exposed to birds outside of work
• Must follow all biosecurity protocols without exception
