Cook - Talladega College
Talladega College is seeking a skilled and reliable Line Cook to join our dynamic Dining Services team. As a Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing and cooking delicious and nutritious meals for the college community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and cook diverse menu items following recipes.
- Manage a cooking station, ensuring timely ingredient preparation.
- Monitor food quality, adjust as needed, and maintain a clean workspace.
- Assist in inventory control, reporting shortages, and minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team, chefs, and dining staff for smooth operations.
- Understanding food safety and sanitation procedures and practices.
- Pass a background check and drug test.
- Food Handler's Certificate preferred (may be required within 30 days of hire).
- Basic knowledge of sanitation and chemical safety.
- Culinary school training preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while being part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (6–8 hours).
- Must be able to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and exposure to water, heat, and cleaning chemicals.
- Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Shifts may vary based on location and operational needs.
- Must adhere to company grooming and hygiene standards.
