The Flora-Bama Marina offers our guests more than just a good time on land by providing a variety of watersport rentals, charters, and cruises. In addition, the Dockhand helps guarantee an enjoyable experience by understanding the importance of guest satisfaction and safety.

Job Summary:

The Dockhand plays an integral role in ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all guests by educating renters on water safety and proper use of the equipment. Additionally, the Dockhand is responsible for the daily upkeep of the marina, including slips, jet skis, boats, and marina grounds.

To ensure smooth daily operations, the Dockhand is responsible for the following tasks:

• Review daily agenda to prepare boats and jet skis for upcoming rentals
• Provide a thorough orientation for boat and jet ski renters by assisting with boarding, explaining essential operations and safety guidelines, walking through the proper operation of equipment, and educating guests on waterway rules
• Monitor the marina slips to ensure boats and jet skis are ready for the next rental and slips are prepared to receive returning boats and jet skis
• Engage with guests throughout their visit to enhance their experience at the marina
• Communicate effectively with the marina office to ensure accurate tracking of rental information
• Maintain the cleanliness of all boats and jet skis as well as the grounds around the marina
• Other tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Ability to work in a warm/hot environment
• Willing to work weekend hours and some nights
• Ability to multitask and take ownership of the different tasks that are assigned
• Ability to work as part of a team and take the initiative independent of direct supervision
• Ability to effectively communicate with guests, peers, and management
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds

Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing up to 10 consecutive hours and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
