Recreation Maintenance Assistant
- Assignment Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 5:30pm.
- Assignment Location: The position will work in the field all over the state, but Wedowee, AL is the primary office/warehouse location.
- PPE Required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Steeled Toes Boots, and Work Gloves, Hearing Protection.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with hand and power tools, general maintenance/repairs, and construction, oversight of construction projects, landscape maintenance.
- Experience with site development projects that include earth work, carpentry, and masonry.
- Experience of safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Carpentry and concrete experience are preferable.
- The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the Shoreline.
- Recreation Team Leader responsible for the oversight and provision of cost-effective operation and regular maintenance of APC’s Public Recreation Facilities located on APC’s reservoirs and adjoining grounds consistent with APC’s FERC Hydro License requirements.
- This position helps ensure that APC’s Public Recreation Facilities are maintained in manner that is compliant with company hydro licenses, policies and guidelines.
- The Recreation Development Assistant is responsible for providing support in the management and general maintenance and upkeep of shoreline property, shoreline structures, boat ramps, roads and buildings located at APC’s Public Recreation Facilities on APC’s 11 reservoirs.
- Buildings/grounds/piers/boat ramps maintenance and repairs & road maintenance.
- Travel.
- Public Recreation Facility & Shoreline Surveillance.
- Equipment maintenance.
- Records Management.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience and working knowledge of land and building management and maintenance.
- Experience with hand and power tools, general maintenance/repairs and construction, oversight of construction projects, landscape maintenance.
- Experience with site development projects that include earth work, carpentry, and masonry.
- Experience of safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment.
- Experience with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance projects.
- Knowledge of APC’s reservoir system and APC’s existing 74 public recreation sites.
- Good time management skills.
- Possess Class A Commercial Driver’s license or acquire Class A Commercial Driver’s license.
- within 1 year of accepting position.
- Self-starter - extensive travel throughout APC’s reservoir system throughout the state is required and this position often will be required to work alone and with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working in public settings including interacting with the public at recreation sites.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
- Familiar with the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions.
- Ability to complete scheduled checklist on maintenance procedures and inspections.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Carpentry and concrete experience are preferable.
- Ability to quickly respond to emergency maintenance request including on weekends as required.
