We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Cyber Software Engineer based out of Orlando, FL. Orlando is our preferred location with other locations considered for future work. Such locations include: Huntsville, AL., Mclean, VA., or Bellevue, NE. As a Principal Cyber Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Cross-Domain Handling of Releasable Data (CHORD) portfolio. CHORD is a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) two-domain Cross Domain Solution (CDS). The CHORD portfolio comprises multiple contract awards and with various customers. **Roles & Responsibilities:** The Principal Cyber Software Engineer will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and secure software systems based upon documented requirements. This person will be responsible for working individually or as part of a team to review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. The team is seeking a talented engineer who resolves software problem reports, utilizes secure software development and secure software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in software development combined with hands-on cybersecurity expertise, ensuring that our technology remains resilient against emerging threats. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the security posture of our software systems while working on challenging projects in a dynamic environment. **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field and 5 years of related technical experience; Master's degree in a STEM field and 3 years of related technical experience, or PHD in a STEM field and 1 year of related technical experience + Active DoD Secret Clearance + In-depth understanding of threat modeling, risk management, and vulnerability management frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO27001) + Strong understanding of network protocols, security architectures, and secure coding best practices + Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and managing security policies (e.g., SELinux or comparable MAC implementations) + Demonstrated experience developing software using Java, Rust, C, C++, or C# + Proven track record of designing, deploying, and maintaining secure software solutions integrated with cybersecurity frameworks. + Prior experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Current DoD 8140 Certification IAT Level II or higher (Security+, CISSP, etc.) or ability to obtain one within 6 months + Experience using Bash or similar scripting languages to automate tasks + Experience configuring and using SonarQube, Fortify, or other code analyzers + Experience using Visual Studio Code (VS Code) or similar IDEs + Experience with Software Configuration Management tools such as Git + Development experience with Messaging Queues, Threading/Multithreading, or Named Pipes + Development experience with IP, or UDP protocols + Development experience with Containerization technology such as Podman Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $182,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
