We’re looking to add a skilled Cost Estimatorto our team to help us price, plan, and win successful jobs.Position Overview
As a Mid-Level Structural Steel Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates for structural steel projects. Your expertise in estimating, project takeoffs, and industry software will play a vital role in our preconstruction process.Key Responsibilities:
- Review construction drawings and specifications to prepare accurate material and labor estimates.
- Perform steel takeoffs using Structural Material Manager and/or Tekla PowerFab.
- Develop cost breakdowns and schedules of values for bidding and billing purposes.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to validate scope and feasibility.
- Maintain and update historical cost data and production metrics.
- Work closely with the sales and preconstruction team to submit competitive bids.
- 3–8 years of experience in estimating within the structural steel or metal fabrication industry.
- Proficiency with Structural Material Manager, Tekla PowerFab, and Microsoft Excelis required.
- Strong knowledge of steel shapes, connections, and fabrication practices.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Experience with AISC standards.
- Background in steel detailing or fabrication operations.
- Familiarity with project management workflows or construction scheduling software.
