About the Role

B&B Sinus and Allergy Relief Center is a busy practice in Florence, AL. Our Medical Biller keeps the billing and reimbursement cycle running smoothly — submitting claims, resolving issues, and working directly with patients on questions about their accounts.

We also use AI tools to handle a meaningful share of our billing workflow, so this role works alongside that automation, stepping in wherever a person is needed. And when it comes to collections, we take a relational approach rather than turning accounts over to a collections agency — working with patients on realistic options instead.

Role Purpose

Keep our billing and reimbursement cycle accurate and moving, resolve the exceptions that come up day to day, and serve as the patient-facing point of contact for billing questions and payment options.

Key Responsibilities

Billing & Claims

• Audit submitted claims and follow up promptly on denials or unpaid balances
• Resolve billing exceptions and issues as they come up
• Keep organized, up-to-date documentation of all account activity

Working With Technology

• Partner with our AI and billing tools day to day, stepping in wherever a human touch is needed
• Spot patterns and suggest ways to make the billing process smoother

Patient Communication & Collections

• Talk with patients by phone and in person about their bills, using a relational, non-threatening approach
• Help patients understand what they owe and find workable payment options
• Handle the administrative side of tracking balances and posting payments
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-authorizations as needed

Account Accuracy

• Review accounts regularly for accuracy
• Ensure payments and adjustments are applied correctly
• Monitor receivables and help keep aging balances moving

Qualifications

• Comfortable with billing basics (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) — or a fast learner willing to pick it up
• Prior medical billing experience is nice to have, but not required
• Comfortable using multiple software platforms and AI-based tools day to day
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Confident having real conversations with patients about money, in a warm and non-judgmental way
