Construction Field Superintendent - Remote

Our client, Essential Construction & Maintenance, LLC, is a licensed general contractor specializing in serving the Food Retail Industry, performing construction projects in supermarkets, wholesale clubs, and other retail spaces, as well as cold storage facilities. They are a rapidly growing company and are seeking to hire a Field Superintendent to manage retail remodel projects and refrigeration construction.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in retail construction, specifically with remodels in live environments such as Walmart, Publix, Lowe’s, and other similar retail settings. Safety is their top priority, and they are looking for a leader who ensures strict safety protocols while managing fast-paced projects in operational retail environments. This role will require significant travel, overseeing projects that typically last 8 weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment, especially in live-action retail spaces.
• Lead and manage construction projects in active retail environments, including supervising subcontractors and laborers, and coordinating with the location’s management team.
• Develop and maintain construction schedules , ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget while adhering to all customer requirements.
• Document project progress , including daily reports, photos, weekly safety meetings, and customer compliance updates.
• Monitor and manage project costs to prevent cost overruns.
• Follow all company field procedures and protocols.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with retail clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and partnership.
• Ensure that the jobsite is always safe, secure, and clean .

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience working for a commercial general contractor, with a focus on retail remodels, preferably in live retail environments such as Walmart, Target, or Lowe’s.
• Experience with food retail and refrigeration construction is a significant plus.
• Current OSHA 10/30, CPR, and Basic First Aid certifications are a plus.
• Forklift and scissor lift certifications are a plus.
• Strong blueprint reading and basic computer skills; knowledge of project management software is a plus.
• Willingness to travel out of town weekly (approximately 80% travel ).
• Ability to work day or night shifts to meet project timelines, often requiring 40+ hours per week and occasional weekends.
