Overview: Sterling Engineering/Staffing is currently looking for a Compensation Manager for one of our clients in the Albertville, AL area. Sterling has a rich history of delivering top talent to our clients. We are a nationwide Staffing Firm with over 100 clients and works primarily with Fortune 1000 corporations.
Target Salary: $80-120K plus 20% STIP Bonus

Position Summary:
The Compensation Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive compensation programs across all regions where the organization operates. This role ensures compensation strategies—including pay structures and incentive plans—align with the company's philosophy to attract, retain, and motivate top talent.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage compensation programs including base salary structures, short-term incentive plans (STIP), and equity programs
Lead and develop the compensation team, ensuring timely and effective execution of compensation-related tasks
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Finance, and regional HR teams to align compensation strategies with business goals, budget, and workforce planning
Conduct compensation benchmarking and market surveys to ensure pay practices remain competitive and equitable
Maintain and evolve the job architecture framework to support clear career pathing and internal mobility
Work with Compliance, Legal, and regional HR to stay current on and implement relevant compensation regulations, including pay transparency laws
Oversee administration of the company’s severance program
Coordinate with Payroll and HR Service Center teams to ensure accurate data integration and reporting
Lead the annual performance review and compensation planning cycles, including merit increases, STIP, and equity awards
Provide compensation analysis and reporting on market trends, pay equity, and workforce metrics
Proactively identify compensation risks and recommend solutions to support retention and employee satisfaction
Serve as a strategic advisor to HR and business leaders on compensation-related matters
Manage relationships with compensation vendors and oversee compensation systems
Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in compensation or HR leadership roles
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification preferred
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of compensation principles and benefits practices
Experience in global compensation programs is a plus
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex market data and translate insights into strategic recommendations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels
