Job Title: HVAC Controls Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Controls Technician to install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, DDC (Direct Digital Controls), and energy management systems used in commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, program, and calibrate HVAC control systems including sensors, controllers, actuators, and related components.
Read and interpret HVAC control wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
Troubleshoot and repair control system components and communication networks.
Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics on control systems and components.
Interface with building automation systems (e.g., Johnson Controls, Trane, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
Assist in the commissioning of HVAC systems and ensure proper functionality.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
Document service and installation activities and update system drawings as needed.
Provide customer training and support on system operations and maintenance.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, electronics, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in HVAC controls, building automation, or related field.
Familiarity with DDC systems and protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
Ability to use hand and power tools, meters, and other diagnostic equipment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (rooftops, mechanical rooms, etc.).
Preferred Certifications (not required but beneficial):
Niagara AX/N4 Certification
