Job Description
This position is contingent on contract award.
The Physician Assistant is responsible to perform a review of military service applicants medical histories, perform medical evaluations, and conduct reviews of medical test results and documents, with an end goal of determining whether the applicant meets the medical standards established by Congress and the Military Services at one of the USMEPCOM geographically dispersed facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive health evaluations and assessments of individuals undergoing military processing.
- Perform physical examinations, taking medical history, and evaluating applicants' physical and mental health status.
- Assess eligibility of applicants based on Department of Defense (DoD) medical standards.
- Interpret laboratory results, imaging, and other diagnostic tests to determine candidates' fitness for military service.
- Diagnose common medical conditions and provide appropriate treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and manage common health issues in accordance with military protocols.
- Provide health education on topics such as nutrition, lifestyle, and preventive care to applicants.
- Counsel applicants on the implications of their health status and potential impact on their military career.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists, when necessary, for further evaluation of health concerns.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and documentation of assessments, treatments, and patient interactions.
- Ensure compliance with military regulations and healthcare protocols in all documentation.
- Stay current with Department of Defense policies, regulations, and standards related to medical processing.
- Participate in training and education to improve knowledge of military health guidelines and required competencies.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities to enhance healthcare delivery.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of care.
- Be prepared to act quickly and effectively in emergency medical situations, providing critical care as needed.
- Pursue ongoing education to maintain licensure and stay updated on advancements in healthcare practices and military medicine.
- PAs will have access to a physician for the purpose of advice and collaboration. This access may also be telephonically or via e-mail.
- Consultation with the collaborating physician must be sought and documented when complex cases or complications are encountered. Consultation may include, but is not limited to, discussion of the case before or in the course of treatment, or timely review and discussion following disposition of the case.
- Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- Minimum is one year in the last two years of experience as a Physician Assistant.
- A physician collaborator must be appointed and endorse the application for clinical privileges. An alternate physician must be appointed in writing to act in the absence of the primary collaborator.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Specialty PAs must complete residency or fellowship training of 12 months or more in a medical specialty program acceptable to the DHA.
- Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA).
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending/stooping, kneeling, twisting.
- Visual acuity. Minimal hearing loss.
- Push/pull/carry minimum 50 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications
:
Must have a favorably adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) at the time the services are performed and must maintain the level of security required for the life of the contract.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
