Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students’ communication development in the Birmingham, Alabama area from August 7 through June 10. As a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, you'll play a crucial role on-site, empowering children and adolescents to achieve their academic and social potential. Your assignment will be determined by need and location, ensuring variety and meaningful engagement with diverse student populations.
Ideal candidates bring a deep understanding of educational laws pertaining to children with disabilities, solid knowledge of pediatric and adolescent cognitive and physical development, and familiarity with medical and psychological diagnostic tools relevant to this field. You should be adept at interpreting data, policies, and state/federal regulations, as well as the terminology associated with physical and learning disabilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications—especially Word, Excel, and Outlook—and exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential for this role.
Qualifications and Experience Desired:
- Valid Professional Educator Certification required
- Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited institution is necessary
- ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, laws, and guidelines in special education
- Background in serving pediatric and adolescent populations within educational settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech-language services to students on-site
- Participate in diagnostic and assessment processes for students with a variety of needs
- Collaborate with educators, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized plans
- Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with regulations and best practices
