The Assembly Group Lead plans and coordinates the final assembly of Group Operated electrical Switches (Group Ops). This position is responsible for executing the daily production plan provided by the Master Scheduler. The Group Lead is a key position within the factory leadership team and is routinely required to work effectively with personnel from scheduling, engineering, quality, warehouse, and purchasing departments. Being able to achieve desired results without direct supervisory authority is key to the success of this position.

LOCATION: Fully Onsite - 4251 Turin Dr, Bessemer, AL 35020

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating with the Master Scheduler and the warehouse functions to execute the daily production plan for each month.
  • Supervising 4 - 5 hourly assembly line workers.
  • Ensuring hourly assembly manpower is available to support assembly requirements.
  • Monitoring and reporting daily status of production orders on the shop floor.
  • Leading or performing accurate and timely internal job order processing on the ERP system.
  • Verifying material availability for production orders with the warehouse team.
  • Utilizing analysis skills to determine root causes of quality issues and implement actions to resolve them.
  • Providing support and coordination for the annual physical inventory activity.
  • Learning the processes and products and become a "student of the business".
  • Providing Disaster preparedness and Emergency Procedures.
  • Creating and following ISO type process instructions and procedures.
  • Actively enforcing company safety policies and procedures.
  • Initiating Corrective Action plans and documentation when required.
  • Ensuring the highest level of process compliance and accuracy are maintained for all activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in assembly-type production.
  • Valid Alabama Driver License with satisfactory driving record.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High energy personality with a hands-on, lead-by-example leadership style.
  • General Computer skills and experience operating within an ERP system utilizing a work order process are required.
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
  • Competent written oral communications skills are required.
  • Work regular shifts to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as assigned. May be subject to call back, on call and/or emergency shifts.
  • Must possess general manual dexterity to operate computer, equipment, tools, controls, and other objects; reach with hands or arms.
  • Must possess mental acuity for attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Ability to read assembly drawings.
  • Speaking: Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Reading Comprehension: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Work primarily takes place in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with routine employee engagements on the manufacturing factory floor.
