Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Fredericksburg, VA 22401 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (travel respiratory therapist contract)
• Healthcare Setting: Short-Term Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1890 - $1940
• On-call: Possible mandatory on-call (2 shifts/month)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend & holiday required
• Charting System: Epic

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (NICU, ED, and adult ICU experience highly preferred)
• Active VA Respiratory Therapist License or Compact License
• BLS and CRTT required
• ACLS required (may start with certification pending; must obtain within 90 days)
• NRP and RRT credentials preferred
• Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, O2 therapy, suction, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
• Experience in community hospital and adult critical care required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Ability to float between NICU, adult ICU, ED, pediatric, and stepdown units
• Travel healthcare experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in NICU, adult ICU, ED, and stepdown units
• Perform airway management, medication administration, and manage ABGs, CPAP/BiPAP, and other respiratory therapies
• Float between units based on patient acuity and hospital needs
• Implement and manage aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies
• Draw and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Participate in monthly department meetings or review and acknowledge meeting minutes
• Follow hospital protocols and engage in safety and quality healthcare initiatives
• Serve as team lead as needed
