Electric Motor Rewind Technician

Picture this: you arrive at our West Virginia facility, review a work order, and begin by capturing exact measurements before a single bolt is loosened. You carefully break down an AC or DC motor, examine the iron and laminations, document what you find, and map the path forward. You strip coils without harming the core, select the right insulation system, and rewind with precision—whether it’s a random-wound three-phase AC motor or a form-wound stator. You braze clean, solid connections, validate every step with electrical tests, then move the job through varnish and VPI, bake cycles, media blasting, final cleaning, and reassembly. Throughout the process, safety and quality guide every decision.

The role

We’re adding an experienced Electric Motor Winder to our West Virginia team to perform full-cycle disassembly, rewind, reassembly, and testing with a high standard for accuracy, safety, and workmanship.

What you’ll handle

• Capture precise measurements prior to teardown.
• Evaluate motors and components for damage, insulation breakdown, and winding failures.
• Log findings and assess stator laminations/iron condition.
• Strip windings while protecting cores.
• Rewind a range of equipment, including:
  • Random-wound and form-wound three-phase AC motors
  • Armatures
  • Wound rotors
  • DC fields
• Apply proper insulation systems to meet specifications.
• Perform and record electrical tests at each stage.
• Braze connections as needed.
• Process varnish and operate VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) systems.
• Clean assemblies after varnish/VPI.
• Load and unload parts in burn-off and bake ovens.
• Prepare components with media blasting.
• Operate shop equipment safely and effectively.
• Keep the work area organized and hazard-free; follow PPE and all safety policies.
• Assist with additional motor and generator repair work as required.

What you bring

• 2+ years of hands-on motor winding experience.
• Working knowledge of motor types, winding methods, and insulation practices.
• Comfort with electrical testing and meticulous documentation.
• Skill with brazing, precision measuring, and basic math.
• Detail-driven, quality-focused, safety-minded.
