Construction Bookkeeper
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Bookkeeper to manage the financial records and day-to-day accounting functions for our growing construction company. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, job costing, and working with vendors and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R)
Process vendor invoices and subcontractor payments
Track and maintain accurate job costing records
Prepare and submit AIA billings and progress invoices
Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Process payroll and ensure certified payroll compliance (if applicable)
Monitor project budgets and report cost overruns
Maintain lien waivers and subcontractor documentation
Assist with monthly financial reports and profit & loss statements
Support year-end close and coordinate with CPA
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Qualifications:
2+ years bookkeeping experience (construction industry preferred)
Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting
Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) or other accounting software
Knowledge of construction contracts and billing procedures
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Sage, Buildertrend, or similar construction software
Knowledge of retainage tracking
Experience with W-9s, 1099s, and subcontractor compliance
Work Environment:
Full-time position
Office-based
