We are seeking a Financial Specialist Assistant to support the business office through billing, collections, Medicaid eligibility processing, and financial reporting responsibilities.

🩺 Position Overview

The Financial Specialist Assistant supports the successful and timely completion of business and financial functions in accordance with NHS Management, LLC guidelines, as well as state and federal regulations.

This position works closely with the Financial Specialist and Administrator to ensure efficient business office operations while maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting the facility’s financial goals.

📊 Key Responsibilities

Financial & Billing Operations

1. Review, analyze, and interpret financial data to monitor progress toward established goals
2. Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance results
3. Assist with Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party billing
4. Perform collections and accounts receivable functions
5. Audit resident accounts and assess accuracy and collectability of balances
6. Initiate appropriate collection actions when necessary

Medicaid Eligibility Processing

1. Coordinate the Medicaid application process to ensure timely eligibility and payment
2. Meet with residents and families to gather application materials and documentation
3. Submit applications and maintain communication with Medicaid agencies
4. Monitor application progress and follow up until approval

Business Office Support

1. Assist with evaluation of potential admissions from a financial standpoint
2. Maintain required financial records, reports, and statistical data
3. Establish and maintain organized filing systems
4. Participate in financial improvement initiatives and special projects
5. Communicate financial progress and challenges to facility leadership

Additional Responsibilities (May Serve as Backup For)

1. Resident Trust Fund maintenance and reconciliation
2. Census maintenance
3. Petty cash reconciliation
4. Reception and mail distribution
5. Payroll processing
6. Accounts payable support

🎓 Qualifications

1. Healthcare billing and collections experience preferred
2. Strong understanding of Medicaid policies and reimbursement regulations
3. Fundamental knowledge of accounting practices and reimbursement programs
4. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
7. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment
8. Ability to collaborate with facility, corporate, and management teams
9. Basic computer and office equipment skills required
10. High school diploma or equivalent required
11. Must be at least 18 years of age
12. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
13. Must be capable of performing essential job functions and physical requirements
