Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This role offers the opportunity to support students with moderate to severe behavioral and learning needs in an educational setting. The position focuses on providing individualized assistance within a specialized language unit and 1:1 support for children who exhibit significant language disorders and behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting students with moderate to severe behaviors such as eloping, biting, screaming, and kicking.
• Implementing behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques to support a positive learning environment.
• Providing direct support and instruction in a resource-based or specialized classroom.
• Managing toileting assistance and other personal care needs as required.
• Collaborating with teaching staff to reinforce educational goals and behavioral interventions.

Qualifications and desired experience:

• Minimum of 48 college credit hours completed.
• Experience working with children on the autism spectrum, particularly those with moderate to severe behaviors.
• Proven ability to implement behavior strategies to effectively manage challenging behaviors.
• Comfort with toileting and personal care support.
• Successful completion of state fingerprint clearance as required by educational regulations.

Location: Onsite at elementary school facilities in Deatsville, Alabama.

This is a contract position with approximately 37.5 hours per week, beginning immediately and continuing through the end of May 2026.

Candidates must be prepared to participate in a brief prescreening phone interview (around 10 minutes) prior to referral to the school district.
