Job Summary:
Responsible for providing quality customer support for Clients and Taxpayers through phones, email, and correspondence, daily processing of payments, working delinquent accounts, and providing follow-up for Clients and Supervisors. This is not a remote or hybrid job position. It is full time and requires employee to come into the Birmingham office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs collections duties to secure outstanding tax audit liabilities
- Follow-up on delinquent accounts and NSF payments with invoicing, collection calls and processing correspondence.
- Compiles and sorts documents, such as audit discovery/findings documents and checks, substantiating business transactions.
- Prepares final documents and reports/assessments for signature and review per Uniform procedures and per internal control procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service through inbound/outbound calls and emails
- Prepares files for storage and maintains file log for items sent to client storage facility
- Assist in research, resolve and record problems
- Build and maintain audit spreadsheets and queries in MS Office applications as needed.
- Complete tasks by deadline and with little supervision
- Makes a minimum of 25 collection calls per day
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in accounting or business-related field preferred
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years in an office environment, with heavy inbound/outbound phone experience. Heavy data entry (10-key and typing).
- Minimum 3 years customer service and / or collections experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to speak effectively with customers and employees
- Positive attitude and TEAM spirit.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual workstation, using telephone and computer.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
- This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
