Certified Medical Assistant/LPN
Rheumatology Associates, P.C. is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. This position assists one Rheumatologist in delivery of patient clinical care and administrative support or assists multiple physicians with phone/portal triage.
Job Summary and Qualifications for clinic position:
- Be at the designated workstation prepared and ready to work during specified work hours as assigned.
- Opening of the clinic to include unlocking doors, turning on lights, starting up computers, stocking patient exam rooms, etc.
- Maintain an efficient patient flow for the provider.
- Process and document ALL prescriptions in the patients EHR.
- Perform any tasks assigned by the Provider.
- Prepare and assist Provider with exams and procedures.
- Clean, prepare and stock exam rooms daily.
- Administer injections.
- Clean, disinfect and sterilize instruments daily.
- Document all necessary MA workflow in the appropriate EHR templates.
- Complete reports for missing results as given by the Administrator.
- Maintain all OSHA standards.
- Maintain the supply and sample cabinet.
- Perform any tasks, duties or special projects as assigned by the Administrator.
Job Summary and Qualifications for phone/portal position:
- Monitor and respond to patient messages via the electronic patient portal in a timely and professional manner.
- Answer triage phone calls, document concerns, and assess urgency based on clinical protocols.
- Provide patients with clinical advice under provider-approved guidelines or escalate appropriately.
- Relay lab/test results with provider interpretation and patient education as needed.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly and accurately in the EHR system.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Assist with prescription refills and medication management under supervision.
- Provide support for medication side effect screening and injection teaching when necessary.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
Required Proficiencies or Specialized Knowledge:
- Learn/maintain a basic understanding of Rheumatology-related terminology, medications, procedures and instruments used.
- Analyze and prioritize information to maintain a well-organized and efficient clinical structure.
- Utilize good communication skills during interactions with patients, coworkers and providers.
- Achieve and maintain positive working relationships and rapport with ALL coworkers, physicians, employees and other health care providers to ensure quality delivery and promotion of health care.
- Work should be performed in accordance with established procedures and by using independent judgment and discretion.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Appropriate work attire is scrubs at all times.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and pay very close attention to detail.
- Must have the knowledge of medical office methods and procedures.
- Must have basic computer skills and an understanding of the practices EMR/PM and Document Management Systems.
- Maintain license or professional certification
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Active Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, etc.) or
- Licensed Practical Nurse
Schedule:
- 8-10 hour shift
- Monday to Thursday
- No weekends
