Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Fabrication Quality Control Manager with expertise in AWS D1.5 code, hydraulic steel structures, and structural steel for bridges. This role involves overseeing quality assurance for large-scale fabrication projects, including hydraulic steel structures for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and structural steel components for bridge construction. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in welding inspection, fabrication standards, and ensuring compliance with stringent quality and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development and implementation of cutting-edge quality control processes for the fabrication of hydraulic steel structures and structural steel for bridges, ensuring strict adherence to AWS D1.5 code and critical project specifications.
  • Drive rigorous inspection and testing protocols to guarantee all welds, materials, and structures not only meet but exceed stringent quality standards and client requirements, contributing directly to project success.
  • Champion unwavering compliance with USACE and Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications for hydraulic structures and bridge components, mitigating risks and upholding the highest levels of structural integrity.
  • Proactively collaborate with project engineers, welders, and fabricators to swiftly identify, analyze, and resolve complex quality issues, implementing robust corrective actions that drive continuous improvement.
  • Innovate and optimize quality control documentation, including comprehensive inspection reports and non-conformance records, ensuring meticulous data integrity and actionable insights for future projects.
  • Cultivate and mentor a high-performing team of quality control personnel, providing expert training and strategic guidance on AWS D1.5 code and advanced quality standards to foster professional growth and excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated mastery in fabrication quality control, specifically within hydraulic steel structures and structural steel for bridges, driving superior project outcomes.
  • Profound understanding and application of AWS D1.5 code and critical quality standards for USACE and DOT bridge projects, ensuring compliance and excellence.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic problem-solving skills, capable of guiding teams and resolving complex challenges effectively.
  • Proven ability to meticulously read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, translating technical details into actionable quality plans.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent advanced certification highly preferred, underscoring a commitment to professional excellence and industry best practices.
  • Valuable experience with Radiographic Testing of welds, demonstrating an advanced capability in non-destructive examination techniques.

Physical Requirements

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, and smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
