Summary

The Pile Driving Foreman is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising marine construction activities involving pile driving operations and related waterfront construction projects. This position oversees field crews, equipment, subcontractors, and daily project activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules and specifications. The Pile Driving Foreman works closely with the Operations Manager and project personnel to support the successful execution of marine construction projects.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise and coordinate daily marine construction and pile driving operations.

· Plan work activities, assign personnel, and monitor project progress to meet production schedules and project deadlines.

· Lead crews performing pile installation, marine structure construction, and related heavy civil activities.

· Review project drawings, specifications, and work plans to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

· Coordinate equipment, material, and manpower needs to support project execution.

· Conduct daily safety meetings and promote compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.

· Ensure required permits and authorizations are obtained prior to commencing work.

· Inspect equipment and work areas to identify hazards and maintain safe operating conditions.

· Train and mentor crew members in safe work practices and proper equipment operation.

· Maintain accurate employee time records, production reports, and daily project documentation.

· Coordinate activities with project management, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.

· Monitor quality of work and ensure projects are completed in accordance with company and customer expectations.

· Participate in incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are identified.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

· Minimum five (5) years of marine construction experience.

· Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or foreman experience in construction, marine construction, or pile driving operations.

· Experience with pile driving systems and installation of:

Precast concrete piles

Steel H-piles

Steel pipe piles

Drilled shafts

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

· Working knowledge of marine concrete demolition.

· Working knowledge of pile removal.

· Working knowledge of marine construction equipment, cranes, barges, and support vessels.

· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

· Ability to prepare and maintain basic project documentation and time records.

· Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project locations.

PREFERRED

· NCCCO certification or experience working with crane operations.

· OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.

· CPR/First Aid certification.

· Experience with waterfront construction, bulkheads, docks, piers, and heavy civil marine projects.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of marine construction methods and pile driving operations.
  • Ability to lead and motivate field crews in a production environment.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, customers, and subcontractors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Frequently walk, stand, climb, kneel, crouch, and work on uneven surfaces.
  • Access barges, vessels, docks, and marine construction sites.
  • Climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Respond appropriately during emergency situations and evacuations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily performed outdoors on marine construction sites, barges, vessels, docks, and waterfront facilities. The employee may be exposed to moving equipment, marine traffic, noise, vibration, weather conditions, and other construction-related hazards.
