The enrollee is not a federal employee. The enrollee will provide direct support to farmers and landowners, enabling the implementation of conservation practices on the ground. This role contributes to meeting the mission of NRCS by enhancing capacity in field offices and ensuring timely assistance to producers. It is designed to free up NRCS staff for emergency and high-priority responses, not to replace federal staff.This role helps ensure continued progress on conservation planning, practice implementation, and technical assistance, especially in high-demand or disaster-affected areas. OR HS/GED Degree in GeneralSurveying experience.Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS ExcelDuties:Provide assistance to the District Conservationist to implement conservation programs. The technician will gather resource data for conservation plans, follow-up with clients, plus checkout conservation practices in Russell County. As directed, occasionally assist surrounding offices.Assists landowners with implementation of conservation practices, which can include layout, installation, and/or check-out of conservation practices.40%Assists District Conservationist (DC) gathering and compiling planning data for developing conservation plans.20%Conduct follow-up on prior year conservation plans and installation of practices that are behind schedule.20%Assists DC in gathering resource data and practice components in estimating cost, analyzing resource data, and developing resource maps.10%Provide training.10%Other:Travel Requirements: A government vehicle will be provided for official travel, or mileage will be paid if POV is used.
