Responsibilities

• Research and develop new product ideas, concepts, and engineering processes.

• Improve the performance and design of existing products.

• Design, model, develop, and test product prototypes.

• Review project proposals and establish project objectives.

• Define project phases, responsibilities, and engineering requirements.

• Prepare project specifications by reviewing product designs, customer requirements, and performance standards.

• Conduct technical studies and prepare project cost estimates.

• Design and perform product performance testing and validation.

• Develop and maintain project schedules while monitoring project progress.

• Coordinate project activities and resolve technical issues.

• Review design changes, specifications, and schedule updates, recommending corrective actions as needed.

• Monitor and control project costs and expenditures.

• Prepare project status reports through data collection, analysis, and trend reporting.

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

• Prepare design briefs, engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists.

• Create prototype samples and working demonstration models.

• Improve product usability and functionality.

• Perform other engineering duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline required; Master's degree preferred.

• Product engineering or product design experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.

• Technical and mechanical aptitude with mechatronics experience preferred.

• Basic knowledge of technical drawings and mechanical documentation.

• Experience using CAD software for product design and development.

• Experience with engineering simulation software for structural, system, magnetic circuit, or flow analysis preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects in a fast-paced team environment.

• Ability to travel up to 15%.

• Management experience not required.
