Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer patient calls, field questions, and assist patients in making new medical appointments.
- Change or cancel medical appointments as necessary which fits the provider’s parameters.
- Accurately note all patient information according to confidentiality standards and HIPAA requirements.
- Route calls to the appropriate department or individual.
- Verifies detailed insurance benefits, medical necessity, and authorization/referral guidelines, consistently prioritizing and following the established verification processes.
- Handle inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner.
- Communicates outstanding documentation requests, required account follow-up, and payor issues to the appropriate contacts.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Knowledge of common medical terminology.
- Prior receptionist experience, ideally in a medical clinic environment.
- Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette.
- EMR experience 1-3 years.
