Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A professional opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a dynamic school environment located in Huntsville, AL. This contract position spans the current school year, providing essential munication assistance to enhance educational access and inclusivity for students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective munication between hearing-impaired students and their peers, educators, and school staff using American Sign Language (ASL).
• Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, and events accurately and confidentially.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to acmodate the educational needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Assist in promoting an inclusive classroom environment by fostering understanding and awareness of deaf culture.
• Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, and consistent readiness to meet daily school demands.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated experience in educational settings.
• Previous experience working with K-12 student populations preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and munication skills to effectively engage with students, faculty, and families.
• Ability to manage dynamic classroom situations and adapt to various instructional styles.
• Relevant certification or credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter is highly desirable.
