Principal Systems Engineer

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position is based in Huntsville, AL..

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Coordinate Medium Range Targets Program Office Systems Engineer activities with other MDA Systems Engineering teams and/or Product Offices, Prime Contractor, and Other Government Agencies (OGAs) as required.
• Obtain & review information from the prime contractor as requested by the Government customer.
• Taking ownership of the technical milestone review process and ensuring all entrance and exit criteria are addressed.
• Facilitate Government IPTs and functional areas (systems engineering, quality, safety, logistics, etc.) as requested.
• Technical baseline management of system designs.
• Ensure levied requirements flow down, and verify compliance.
• Interpreting flight test requirements and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure common understanding.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Master’s degree with 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program / project or Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program / project.
• Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes.
• Ability to apply Engineering rigor to solve engineering/scientific problems.
• Experience writing, presenting, and coordinating product and engineering plans, policies, and procedures.
• Understanding system interface requirements and requirements management.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and produce and present clear, concise, well-organized, and audience-relevant presentations and documents.
• Reviewing system engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate.
• Works Independently, as a team member, or leading teams/tasks.
• Experience working in a configuration-controlled environment and ensuring proper levels of handling are applied to items.
• Must be a US Citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• STEM Degree.
• Familiarity with MDA and system engineering processes.
• Familiarity with technical proposal development and evaluation.
• Model Based Systems Engineering.
