Trailer Technician/ Mechanic

A Trailer Service Shop Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of trailers, including utility, cargo, flatbed, and heavy-duty trailers. This role ensures trailers are safe, functional, and compliant with regulations.

Trailer Technician/ Mechanic Details:

• Temp-to-Hire position
• $18.00 / hour
• Full Time work available
• Weekend work required
• First Shift ( Monday through Friday from 07:00am to 04:00pm )

Perform routine inspections on trailers (brakes, lights, tires, suspension, etc.)

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues Repair or replace damaged components (axles, bearings, wiring, flooring, etc.)

Service brake systems, including electric and hydraulic brakes

Weld and fabricate metal parts when needed

Conduct preventive maintenance and safety checks Install trailer accessories (hitches, jacks, lighting systems)

Maintain accurate service records and work orders

Follow safety procedures and shop standards

Assist customers by explaining repairs and maintenance needs

Trailer Technician/ Mechanic Qualifications:

Basic mechanical knowledge (automotive or heavy equipment preferred)

Experience with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment

Understanding of trailer systems (electrical, braking, suspension)

Welding and fabrication skills (preferred but not always required)

Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a shop environment

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)

High school diploma or GED

Technical training or certification in mechanics (preferred) 1–3 years of related experience
