MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MANAGER (Aviation Industry)
Tallassee, AL

SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with expertise in aviation or marine vapor cooling technologies to lead the design and deployment of advanced mobile environmental control systems. This role is critical in driving innovation, efficiency, and reliability in high-performance aviation, aerospace and military mobile environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on mobile vapor cooling and thermal management solutions
• Oversee the design, development, testing, and optimization of vapor cycle environmental cooling systems
• Drive product development from concept through production and integration, ensuring performance, cost, and reliability targets are met
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to integrate cooling solutions into broader systems
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines for thermal systems
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
• Evaluate new technologies, materials, and methods to improve cooling efficiency and scalability
• Support customer engagements, including technical proposals, presentations and solution customization
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, FAA regulations, and environmental requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in thermal system design, with at least 2–3 years in a project leadership role
• Strong expertise in aviation or marine mobile vapor cycle cooling technologies
• Proven experience in product development and engineering team leadership
• Some experience with CAD software (CREO, SolidWorks or equivalent)
• Proficiency with thermal simulation tools is a plus (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar modeling software)
• Solid understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and controls integration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM)
• Knowledge of variable speed compressors and controllers
• PMP or other project management certification is a plus
• Background in manufacturing and product commercialization
