Door & Dock Technician – Mobile, Alabama

We’re seeking an experienced Door & Dock Technician to support commercial and industrial facility operations in Mobile, Alabama . This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, working with their hands, and taking ownership of keeping critical facility systems operating safely.
You’ll be responsible for preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs involving commercial doors, loading dock equipment, and related building systems.
What You’ll Do
Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial dock equipment
Service dock levelers, seals, bumpers, locks, and associated loading dock systems
Maintain and repair overhead doors, automatic doors, hollow metal doors, locks, and commercial door hardware
Troubleshoot electrical components, electronic controls, power supplies, and related systems
Work with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and perform basic mechanical repairs
Conduct routine equipment rounds and identify potential problems before they become larger issues
Inspect equipment for wear, vibration, pressure, speed, and other operating conditions
Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, belt and hose replacement, and equipment servicing
Handle minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, patching, and general facility maintenance
Accurately document work performed, equipment conditions, and recommendations in a CMMS
Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, contractors, and facility leadership
Support contractors and subcontractors when needed
Follow all OSHA, lockout/tagout, safety, and life-critical work procedures
What You Bring
Three or more years of experience maintaining commercial or industrial doors and dock equipment
Hands-on experience with dock levelers, dock locks, seals, bumpers, overhead doors, automatic doors, and commercial door hardware
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems
Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
General mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills
Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
Ability to safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts
Valid driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to understand technical manuals, diagrams, safety procedures, and written and verbal instructions
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to work with computers, mobile devices, tablets, email, and computerized work order systems
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and customer needs
Preferred Experience
AAADM certification
Experience with commercial door and dock manufacturers
Experience in industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, or commercial facilities
Experience troubleshooting automatic and electronic door systems
