Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Machine Operator to work in the cable manufacturing industry. This role involves operating rod mill machines and extruders, ensuring optimal machine performance, conducting preventive maintenance, and assisting with the movement and loading of heavy materials. The position requires flexibility to work both 1st and 3rd shifts, with 12-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Operate rod mill machines and extruders to produce cables and related products according to specifications.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Assist in the physical loading of heavy materials into machines and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Monitor production quality and adjust machine settings as necessary to meet product specifications.
- Support troubleshooting and maintenance tasks, working with maintenance teams to resolve issues.
- Maintain detailed logs of production runs, maintenance activities, and material usage.
- Ensure proper material handling and inventory management, assisting in material movement and storage.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Essential Skills
- Experience in operating rod mill machines, extruders, or similar machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) safely and efficiently.
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts on both 1st and 3rd shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and handle heavy materials.
- Ability to work in hot, noisy, and industrial environments.
- Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartselle, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
