Quality Inspector
A220 Mechanical Quality Inspector (2nd Shift)
Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an A220 Mechanical Quality Inspector (2nd Shift) to join our team based in Mobile, AL.
The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for the execution and confirmation of quality inspections as part of the production process with an emphasis on the aircraft structural assemblies and components.
Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to investigations and root cause analysis into reported quality/quality technical issues from the business team and customer, to ensure appropriate containment and archiving, corrective and curative action is taken by the accountable function through multifunctional teams.
- Perform Quality Inspections as per defined standards, Final Check and Attestation, Stop Points, Out of sequence work, including critical activities (when not delegated).
- Ensure Operational Surveillance (people, product and process).
- Provide feedback and coaching to Operations & Support Functions on Quality issues and observations from Operational Surveillance.
- Actively participate in process improvements.

Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.
Your boarding pass:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5 years of experience in an aviation company with an emphasis on mechanical and/or structural components and assemblies.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
- Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in production line.
- Handling and use of inspection tools for length measuring techniques (mechanical, electrical).
- Relevant Airline/Aviation experience is desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
- Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
- Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
- Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.
- Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
- Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
- Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
- Space Limitations: Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
