The data plane team is building a new Storage layer supporting low latency high throughput storage system in 100+ regions. As part of this effort, the Object Storage Service team is looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, large scale storage, and scaling services to meet future growth. As a technical leader, you will own the software design and development for major components and features of the Object Storage Service. You should be able to design complex systems, strong programmer and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. **This position is located in Seattle or Santa Clara. No remote. Relocation assistance is available.** **Responsibilities** As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff, you will be called upon to lead major projects and have significant participation in design and architecture. You will be expected to act as a technical leader on your team and demonstrate core values for other more junior engineers. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. To succeed with these responsibilities will require: + Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. + 15+ years experience delivering storage systems. + Cloud experience is a plus. + Proven experience with a major Object Oriented Programming language such as Java or C++. + Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals. + Very strong knowledge of databases, storage and distributed persistence technologies. + Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
