General Production Worker
Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility that produces oil seals and gaskets. You will work in a non-climate-controlled, industrial environment and operate a variety of machinery while also performing general production and labor tasks. The position is on third shift and involves working in departments such as gaskets, oil seals, and PTFE, all of which are physically demanding and can be dirty and dusty.
Responsibilities
- Operate various production machinery, including press machines and mold press machines, to manufacture oil seals, gaskets, and related components.
- Perform general labor tasks such as sorting, kitting, and assembly to support production flow and meet daily output targets.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring tools such as tape measures to complete assigned tasks accurately and safely.
- Conduct visual and manual inspection of parts and assemblies to ensure they meet quality and specification requirements.
- Assist with machine setup and basic adjustments for stamping, pressing, and other machinery as directed by supervisors or experienced team members.
- Follow detailed instructions, work orders, and, where applicable, basic blueprints to produce parts to required standards.
- Handle materials and components safely, including loading and unloading parts from machines and workstations.
- Support and participate in orientation and on-the-job training, learning standard operating procedures from the team and supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a dirty and dusty production environment, adhering to safety and housekeeping standards.
- Work effectively as part of a team on third shift, communicating with coworkers and supervisors to resolve issues and maintain production efficiency.
Essential Skills
- Experience in production or manufacturing environments, preferably involving stamping, pressing, or similar machinery.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate press machines, mold press machines, and other production equipment safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in a production setting.
- Basic ability to read and use a tape measure and follow simple measurements in daily work.
- Comfort working with machinery setup and basic adjustments for stamping, press, and related equipment.
- Capability to perform assembly and inspection tasks with attention to detail and quality.
- Willingness and ability to work third shift, Monday through Friday from 10:45 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Physical ability to work in a dirty, dusty, non-climate-controlled environment and perform repetitive, hands-on tasks throughout the shift.
- Reliability and punctuality to attend orientation and all scheduled shifts, including the initial Monday morning orientation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in metal stamping or experience in similar industrial environments is highly beneficial.
- Exposure to forklift operations or material handling equipment is an advantage.
- Ability to read and understand basic blueprints is a plus.
- Experience working with rubber or molded components is helpful for oil seals and mold press operations.
- Comfort learning from supervisors and team members during on-the-job training and adapting to different departments as needed.
Why Work Here?
You will join a stable automotive manufacturing operation where you can gain hands-on experience with industrial machinery and production processes. The company provides structured onboarding, including a dedicated orientation day and guided training with supervisors and team members. You will work consistent third-shift hours, allowing for predictable scheduling and the opportunity to build your skills in multiple departments such as gaskets, oil seals, and PTFE. The environment rewards reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, giving you the chance to grow your capabilities in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Work Environment
The facility is a large automotive manufacturing plant with three main departments: gaskets, oil seals, and PTFE. All departments are dirty, dusty, and non-climate-controlled, so temperatures can vary significantly depending on the season. You will work around press machines, mold press machines, and other industrial equipment, as well as perform sorting, kitting, assembly, and inspection tasks. The role is on third shift, Monday through Friday, from 10:45 PM to 7:00 AM. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear for safety, and you may wear jeans and plain, regular T-shirts; leggings are not permitted. The first day consists of a Monday morning orientation at 7:45 AM with HR, followed by a second day on your assigned shift to learn directly from the team and supervisors. The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and physically demanding, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to plant procedures.
