A Glulam CNC Operator in Dothan, AL, as part of SmartLam's North America's largest custom glulam plant, would be responsible for the safe and efficient fabrication operating and maintaining CNC machines to produce glulam beams, requiring skills in interpreting shop drawings, programming, and ensuring quality and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operating CNC Machines: Setting up and operating CNC machines to perform repetitive operations on glulam wood beams.
• Interpreting Shop Drawings: Reading and interpreting shop drawings to understand the dimensions, cuts, and specifications of glulam beams.
• Programming and Editing: Programming and editing the CNC machine to specify speed, feed rates, and tool paths.
• Maintaining Equipment: Cleaning and maintaining the CNC machines and related equipment.
• Quality Control: Inspecting finished products for accuracy and quality, ensuring compliance with specifications.
• Safety: Maintaining safety standards and safe work practices.
• Record Keeping: Keeping records of production data and maintenance, as well as maintaining equipment inventory and supplies.
• Problem Solving: Troubleshooting issues that arise during the CNC machining process.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience: Experience in CNC machine setup, programming, and operation is essential.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, understand CNC programming, and use CAM software.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues that arise during the CNC machining process.
• Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety procedures and practices.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to pay close attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of the finished products.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday – occasional Saturday. 6am - 5pm

Shift availability:
