Machine Operator

Machinist Operator Needed In Northport

We are looking for someone who is reliable, teachable, and a good fit overall. Pay rate is $16/hr 1st shift.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the operation of a variety of machines used in fabrication, assembly in the manufacturing of component parts, subassemblies, or final products.
• Set up machines and change tooling or blades to grind/cut steel
• Use specialized saws or hand tools
• Use calipers and micrometers, must understand fractions and decimals
• Read industrial knife blueprints
• Perform quality checks
• Keep scrap production within limits
• Complete Statistical Process Control Charts (SPCs) for all assignments
• Forklift Certified (or able to become certified)
• Load and unload steel from machines
• General cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines and area
• Work with a high sense of urgency
• Wear all required PPE
• Compliance with company policies and procedures in operating machinery, including first level troubleshooting and corrective action to ensure all processes remain within control parameters
• May be required to provide support to others Active participation in Lean and Safety Training Must cross-train to other positions as requested
• Other duties as assigned Competencies

Requirements:

• Must accurately input data into ERP System Microsoft: Teams and email

• Must be able to speak and read English
• Must be able to do basic math
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds alone or up to 100 pounds with lift assist
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail, a proactive work ethic, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in a manufacturing environment

Work Environment: Exposure to extreme weather temperatures and conditions may occur, along with fumes, noise and/or vibration. This position regularly operates standard office equipment, for example, computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines. At times, this position can be exposed to high noise levels. The employee may be exposed to machine fumes and airborne particles.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: Regularly required to talk, utilize sensory skills, cognitive skills, and motor skills. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequently lift, push, pull and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move objects up to 100 with lift assistance. Ability to work in an environment that is hot in the summertime, and cold in the wintertime Ability to stand/walk up to 10hrs per day Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $16.00 - $16.00 Per Hour
