Position Overview
The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing expert on-site technical service, ensuring the optimal functionality of customer VoIP and intercom systems. Core duties include diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, PBX, and complex network issues, followed by the timely replacement of defective equipment.
This role requires proficiency in wire tracing and basic infrastructure maintenance. A critical component of the position is maintaining exceptional customer rapport and professionalism while ensuring clear and accurate internal communication with technical support and management regarding service calls and resolutions.
Key Responsibilities
On-Site Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve a variety of technical issues, including hardware, PBX (Private Branch Exchange), and general network problems at customer locations.
Equipment Management: Efficiently replace defective customer equipment to minimize downtime.
Wiring & Infrastructure: Perform wire tracing and basic cable management to ensure optimal service delivery.
Customer & Communication: Maintain great rapport with customers, clearly explaining issues and solutions. Ensure good internal communication with dispatchers and technical support teams.
Documentation: Accurately document all service calls, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
Inventory: Maintain an organized vehicle of inventory to ensure spare parts are always readily available
Travel to project sites as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role, preferably in telecommunications or IT.
Solid understanding of VoIP technology, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP), and PBX systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in hardware and network troubleshooting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and climb ladders
Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
