An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) specialist is a professional responsible for overseeing workplace and environmental safety to prevent accidents, minimize risks, and ensure compliance with government regulations. They work to create a safe and healthy environment for employees and the public.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections: Examine work environments, equipment, and procedures to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement programs: Create safety protocols and environmental programs to control risks, train employees, and enhance the overall safety culture.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance: Stay current on and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, such as those from OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).

  • Train employees: Educate workers on safety procedures, proper equipment usage, and emergency response plans.
  • Analyze data: Review incident reports and safety metrics to identify trends and develop preventive strategies.
