Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher on a contract basis supporting schools in the Birmingham area. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Current, valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate
- Fulfills all Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements
- Experience in special education or related field preferred
- Strong collaborative and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and innovate in classroom settings
- Passion for advocating for and supporting students with a variety of learning differences
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in compliance with all relevant guidelines
- Provide direct instruction and support to students, accommodating their learning styles and needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, school staff, and families to ensure student success and inclusion
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation on student progress, goals, and compliance requirements
- Foster a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment that encourages growth and self-advocacy
- Participate in ongoing professional development and school-based team meetings
