Job Description

This role involves safely operating sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move, load, unload, and organize materials within a warehouse environment. The forklift operator supports shipping and receiving activities, maintains accurate inventory records using basic systems or scanners, and upholds a clean and safe work area.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move, load, and unload materials safely within the warehouse and production areas.
  • Transport, stack, and organize products in designated storage locations to support efficient material flow.
  • Support shipping and receiving operations by loading and unloading trucks and staging materials as required.
  • Use basic inventory systems or handheld scanners to track, record, and verify product locations and quantities.
  • Inspect forklifts and related equipment daily, identify potential issues, and promptly report maintenance needs.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including safe driving practices, load handling guidelines, and facility-specific rules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to support safety and efficiency.
  • Handle materials carefully to prevent damage to products, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate material movements and priorities.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to equipment use, workplace conduct, and safety compliance.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or similar environment.
  • Proficiency operating both sit-down and stand-up forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Prior forklift experience with a strong focus on safe material handling practices.
  • Valid forklift certification demonstrating current and compliant operating credentials.
  • Experience supporting loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving activities.
  • Ability to use basic inventory systems or handheld scanners to track and organize materials.
  • Strong attention to safety, including adherence to all safety protocols and equipment inspection routines.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Solid communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse setting that supports material handling, shipping, and receiving activities. You will operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts and use basic inventory systems or handheld scanners throughout your shift. The role follows a 2nd shift schedule, typically from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and involves working around moving equipment, stacked materials, and active loading and unloading areas. The environment requires adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a warehouse, including clothing and footwear that support safe equipment operation and movement on the warehouse floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gadsden, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
