**Job Title: Shipfitter/Stick Welder - Newport News, VA** **$45/hour & $140 in per diem** **This position is located in Newport News, Virginia!!** **Responsibilities:** **This position is located in Newport News, Virginia** + Perform multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process. + Operate burning and heating equipment, specifically oxygen/propane burning torches. + Interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines. + Comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler and lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly. + Assemble structural piece parts according to specifications with high-quality standards. + Work effectively in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding or steel fabrication. + Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry. + Utilize vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns. **Essential Skills:** **This position is located in Newport News, Virginia** + Single & Multi Pass Tack Welding + Burning using Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch + Heating using Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch + Ability to read and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches + Ability to comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler + Ability to lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly **Why Work Here?:** **This position is located in Newport News, Virginia** Join a leading shipbuilding company known for its commitment to quality and innovation. The environment varies with hot and muggy summers and cool winters. Work on Navy vessels or in a shop setting, with shifts available around the clock: 1st shift (7am-3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:30-11pm), and 3rd shift (11pm-7am). **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
