A 7th Grade Volleyball Coach builds fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in grades 7 while preparing athletes for high school.

Responsibilities include planning daily practices, coaching game strategies, supervising the team, and ensuring compliance with local and state athletic regulations.

Core responsibilities for the role typically include:

• Practice & Game Management: Plan and execute efficient, skill-focused practices. Manage game-day strategy, lineups, and substitution patterns appropriate for junior high play.
• Skill Development: Teach the foundational mechanics of passing, setting, hitting, serving, and basic court rotation.
• Student-Athlete Mentorship: Foster a positive, supportive team culture centered on sportsmanship, discipline, and respect. Monitor student grades, character development, and academic eligibility.
• Program Administration: Manage inventory of uniforms and equipment. Work with the Athletic Director to coordinate transportation, match schedules, and facility usage.
• Compliance & Safety: Enforce safety protocols, injury prevention, and emergency response procedures. Adhere to all state athletic association rules (e.g., IGHSAU in Iowa), district policies, and conference guidelines.
• Parent & Community Communication: Host preseason parent meetings to set expectations. Maintain open, clear communication regarding schedules and team updates.
