The Shipping Coordinator to oversees and manages the transportation of goods efficiently and cost-effectively. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating shipments, communicating with carriers and suppliers, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shipment Coordination: Schedule, track, and manage inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Carrier Management: Communicate with freight carriers to negotiate rates, arrange pickups/deliveries, and resolve transportation issues.
- Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and review shipping documents (bills of lading, invoices, customs paperwork) and ensure adherence to all transportation regulations.
- Customer & Vendor Relations: Act as the primary point of contact between suppliers, customers, and logistics partners.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve shipping delays, damages, and discrepancies.
- Cost Optimization: Monitor freight costs and work on cost-saving strategies while maintaining efficiency.
- Reporting & Data Entry: Maintain shipment records, update tracking systems, and generate reports for internal stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in freight coordination, logistics, transportation, or other administrative positions.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with carriers, vendors, and customers.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple shipments with accuracy.
- Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making skills to handle transportation issues effectively.
