Spur is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Ongoing Substitute Special Education Aides to support Hoover City Schools in Alabama. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with students and thrive in an educational support role. In this position, you will be required to work at a school every day to fill in for an aide who is not there that day. If you cannot commit to work Monday-Friday please do not apply to this position.

Position Overview

As a Substitute Special Education Aide , you will assist teachers and staff in supporting students with special needs. Candidates must demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to school policies and procedures. This position is on-call , meaning assignments will be based on school needs. While some districts may offer opportunities beyond regular school hours, these are not guaranteed.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing lesson plans in the absence of the regular aide.
• Support students with classwork and assignments as needed.
• Maintain classroom control and discipline to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Create daily reports for the classroom teacher.
• Take attendance according to school procedures.
• Set up and operate basic classroom technology to support instruction.
• Adapt to changing student needs and behaviors .
• Perform other duties as assigned by school staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must obtain a State of Alabama Background Check ($48.00).
• Completion of MCS Training (provided at no cost by Spur Training Manager).
• Completion of required online training before the first assignment.
• Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs as required.
• Must be able everyday or on call

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay Rate: $15.04/hour
• Hours: Must be available to work Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (varies by location)
• Work Period: Follows the Hoover City Schools academic calendar when classes are in session.
