Job Summary – Manufacturing Productions Supervisor

The Manufacturing Productions Supervisor leads production-floor operations to execute the daily production plan with a strong focus on safety, quality, throughput, and on-time delivery. This role supervises steel slitting, cut-to-length, and material handling activities while driving processing efficiency, cost control, and compliance with customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities – Productions Supervisor

• Scheduling & Team Leadership (25%):
  • Schedule, prioritize, and delegate work across production lines.
  • Supervise and coordinate associates in steel slitting, cut-to-length, and material handling.
  • Align staffing and resources to meet production targets and delivery commitments.
• Hands-on Operations & Troubleshooting (25%):
  • Interpret work orders and material specifications to ensure correct setups.
  • Oversee machine and equipment setup for daily operations.
  • Coach associates on structured problem-solving; escalate unresolved issues to management.
• Safety, Quality, and Performance Management (20%):
  • Enforce safety policies and lead daily safety checks.
  • Address quality concerns and production variances in real time.
  • Provide input on performance, recognition, and corrective actions.
• Reporting, Training, and Cross-Functional Coordination (20%):
  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly production reports and KPIs.
  • Partner with scheduling, maintenance, and quality to optimize workflow.
  • Maintain current employee training on safety, SOPs, and policy updates.
• Workplace Organization (10%):
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready production environment (5S).

Qualifications & Skills – Productions Supervisor

• Basic reading/writing and computer proficiency; able to read a tape measure.
• Strong basic math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven leadership with the ability to prioritize and delegate in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP exposure a plus.

Experience & Education – Productions Supervisor

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment (steel processing preferred: slitting, cut-to-length, coil handling).

Physical Demands & Working Conditions – Productions Supervisor

• Strength: Medium.
• Movement: Kneeling, Stooping, Handling.
• Auditory: Talking, Hearing.
• Vision: Near Acuity, Far Acuity.
• Environment: Exposure to weather; proximity to moving mechanical parts.
• Equipment: Office equipment; familiarity with production machinery oversight.

Team Supervision – Productions Supervisor

• Direct reports may include: Slitting Line Operator, Uncoiler, Crane Operator, Recoiler/Exit Piler.
